Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism and Progress by Steven Pinker

This episode features our regular book club meeting discussion of Steven Pinker's wonderful book Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress.

In Enlightenment Now psychologist Steven Pinker dispels the thought that the world is only getting worse and argues that things are actually getting better by every measure.

Pinker provides statistics on such factors as health, wealth, equality, human rights, happiness, peace and freedom to show that all of these things have improved over time, all around the world and he says the driving forces of this progress are reason, science and humanism- values that are driven by the European Enlightenment.

This was an excellent discussion led by book club member Kevin Neilsen. We hope you find it as fascinating as we did. This book club meeting was originally recorded on Sunday March 12, 2023.
