The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore

Welcome to The Good Book Club Podcast where we make all our episodes and bonus events availalble for listeners to enjoy. This podcast is our The Good Book Club discussion of The Woman They Could Not Silence: One Woman, Her Incredible Fight for Freedom, and the Men Who Tried to Make Her Disappear by Kate Moore, with the discussion led by book club member, Cindy.

In this riveting true story, civil war era housewife and mother Elizabeth Packard is placed in a mental institution by her husband because of her intellect, independence, and unwillingness to stifle her own thoughts. As she navigates her new traumatic existence, she meets others in the same situation and realizes that no one is willing to fight for their freedom and they cannot possibly fight for themselves. She then becomes a woman on a mission in this incredible tale of human resilience and overcoming great trials against all odds, to rise triumphant. We learned so much from Elizabeth's story and we know you will too .This book club meeting was originally recorded on Sunday, July 9th, 2023.
